Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist., has nominated 30 students to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy.
The list of students nominated to the academies today were all residents of Johnson County; no Wyandotte County students were named to the list. Last year, Emmett Lockridge III of Piper High School was nominated by Yoder to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
After receiving their nominations, the students must meet the requirements of each U.S. service academy to be considered for appointment, and the academies make the final decision on who receives an appointment.
Rep. Yoder will begin accepting applications for the 2019 Academy class on May 1, 2018. The application deadline is Oct. 1, 2018.
