The Wyandotte Daily News won seven awards Saturday, June 14, at the 2014 Heart of America Awards competition sponsored by the Kansas City Press Club.
The Wyandotte Daily News won four first place, gold awards: photojournalism-breaking news; photojournalism-feature; news column writing, Window on the West column; and sports reporting.
Additionally, the Wyandotte Daily News won the second place, silver, award for business reporting; and silver award for photojournalism, breaking news. A bronze, third place, award was for a profile story.
All the Wyandotte Daily News entries were by Mary Rupert, published in 2013, and were entered in the print nondaily category. The judges for the contest were from journalism organizations in other cities.
