Wyandotte County is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 1 a.m. Sunday, July 23, according to the National Weather Service.
Surrounding counties including Leavenworth and Johnson, with several others, also are under the severe thunderstorm watch.
Wyandotte County remains under the excessive heat warning until 8 p.m. tonight. The temperature was 99 degrees at 6 p.m., with a heat index of 114 degrees. Residents were advised to find a cool air-conditioned place.
Storms and rain are possible tonight.
