Wyandotte County is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 4:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
At 4 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Linwood, near DeSoto, moving east at 15 mph, the weather service said.
Hail damage to vehicles is expected, along with wind damage to roofs, siding and trees. Locations in the path of the storm include Bonner Springs, parts of Wyandotte County, and other areas.
The weather service recommends moving to an interior room on a lower floor.
The National Weather Service also has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10 p.m. for Wyandotte County.
At 3:14 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Eudora and Lawrence, moving southeast at 5 mph, the weather service said.
Hail and high winds will be possible with this storm, according to the weather service.
A flash flood watch was added from 7 p.m. July 25 until 7 a.m. July 26.
Wyandotte County is also under a heat advisory until 9 p.m. today. Additionally, an orange ozone air quality alert is in effect today for Wyandotte County.
The temperature at 3 p.m. Saturday was 93 degrees, with a heat index of 109 degrees.
