A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 11 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, through 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, according to the National Weather Service.
Also, a wind chill advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, through noon Tuesday, Jan. 16, the weather service stated.
Snow is expected tonight, with a total nighttime accumulation of less than one inch in Wyandotte County, according to the weather service. The overnight low will be 13. The snow should end by 5 a.m. Jan. 15.
Slippery road conditions are possible, including during the morning commute on Monday.
On Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, temperatures will fall to around 9 degrees by 5 p.m., the weather service said. The wind chill reading will be between minus 8 and 2. A north northwest wind of 11 to 16 mph may gust as high as 24 mph.
Monday night, the low will be around minus 1, with wind chill values between minus 9 and minus 15, according to the weather service. A northwest wind of 8 to 15 mph may gust as high as 22 mph.
Residents should be prepared for reduced visibility at times, according to the weather service. Cold wind chills may cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

A wind chill advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine for dangerous situations. Frost bite and hypothermia may occur if precautions are not taken, according to the weather service. Anyone outdoors should wear a hat and gloves.
