Whetstone takes three events at Bonner Springs Invitational

Bonner Springs High School was the host of the Bonner Springs Track and Field Invitational on Thursday evening. Students from Harmon, Turner, Washington, and Bishop Ward high schools participated in the meet along with other area schools.

Bonner sophomore Kim Whetstone was the big winner for the host team, winning three events. She posted a time of 13.23 seconds in the girls 100-meter dash, beating Harmon’s Nancy Landford for the win. Whetstone also took first in both the long jump (16 feet, 7 inches) and triple jump (34 feet, 2 1/2 inches).

Ottawa High School was the boys team winner. The girls team winner was Lincoln College Preparatory Academy of Kansas City, Mo. Bonner Springs placed third in the girls team standings.

Shelby Cox, Bonner Springs, girls 100-meter hurdles
Nancy Landford, Harmon, girls 200-meter dash
Jorden Clark, Washington, boys 100-meter dash
