A strong and gusty southerly wind will prevail across the region today, with a high near 88 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
.Expect sustained wind speeds this afternoon to range around 25 mph with gusts around 40 mph, the weather service said.
The strong winds today will elevate the fire weather threat across the entire region, but will increase it the most in far northwest Missouri and areas of extreme northeast Kansas this afternoon as humidity values drop to around 30 percent, according to the weather service. Areas that will see the lowest humidity values will generally be west and north of I-35.
In Wyandotte County, a south southwest wind today will be 14 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph, according to the weather service. The temperature will reach 88.
Tonight, expect mostly clear skies, and a low of about 59, the weather service said. The south southwest wind of 5 to 9 mph will become west northwest after midnight. Winds may gust as high as 23 mph.
Tuesday, it will be sunny and cooler, according to the forecast. The high will be near 73, with a north wind of7 to 9 mph.
Tuesday night, the low will be around 52, with a north northeast wind of 3 to 5 mph, according to the weather service.
Wednesday, expect partly sunny skies with a high near 69, according to the weather service. The wind will be northeast from 5 to 8 mph.
Wednesday night’s low will be around 48, the weather service said.
Thursday, the temperature continues its drop, and there will be a high of 63, according to the weather service.
Thursday night, the low will be around 43, the weather service said.
Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 66, according to the weather service. Friday night’s low will be around 46.
Saturday, expect sunny skies and a high near 71, the weather service said.
