Rain was falling at 6 p.m. Monday in Wyandotte County, and there is now a chance of rain mixed with snow showers between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., according to an updated forecast.
However, temperatures are still forecast to be above 32 degrees until 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service, so any snow falling before then might not accumulate.
Wyandotte County is very close to an area that is predicted to get snow tonight.
The weather service said rain and snow showers are possible tonight before 11 p.m., then a chance of rain showers between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. Tonight’s low will be 28 with a north wind of 6 to 11 mph. Little or no snow accumulation is expected tonight.
Accumulating snowfall of several inches and periods of freezing drizzle are possible across portions of the forecast area starting late Tuesday and continuing through Thursday, the weather service said.
In addition, the combination of light winds and cold temperatures will allow wind chills to drop into the teens to lower 20s Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
Temperatures will climb to a high near 42 on Tuesday, then on Tuesday night, there is an 80 percent chance of drizzle before 1 a.m., then rain after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. Tuesday night’s low will be around 32. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of precipitation is possible.
Wednesday, there is an 80 percent chance of precipitation, with drizzle likely before 1 p.m., then rain after 1 p.m., the weather service said. Wednesday’s high will be about 35. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of precipitation is possible.
Wednesday night, there is a 50 percent of drizzle and freezing drizzle, possibly mixed with snow before 4 a.m., then a chance of snow, according to the weather service.
Thursday, there is a 20 percent chance of snow before 1 p.m., with a high near 35, the weather service said. Wind chill readings could drop into the teens and low 20s in some areas on Thursday morning.
