The National Weather Service has issued a new thunderstorm warning for western Wyandotte County, in effect through 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
At 10:07 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was reported near Williamstown, or 8 miles south of Oskaloosa, Kansas, moving northeast at 50 mph, the weather service said.
The thunderstorm warning also includes Leavenworth County and western Johnson County.
The storm includes 60 mph wind gusts, with possible damage to roofs, siding and trees.
Bonner Springs, Edwardsville and Kansas City, Kansas, are in the path of the storm, along with surrounding areas.
Residents should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building, the weather service said.
