The Kansas City T-Bones took the second game of a three-game series with the Salina Stockade, 5-2, after weather ended the game in just five innings on Saturday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
In a repeat of the Friday night game , the T-Bones got things started offensively against the Stockade in the first inning. Right fielder Chantz Mack’s RBI single to right field brought in the first two runs of the inning. A sacrifice fly to center field from first baseman, Chase McDonald, extended the T-Bones’ lead to three in the bottom of the first. Mack was able to make his way around the diamond for the fourth and final run of the first inning courtesy of an RBI single from catcher Tony Caldwell.
Salina Shortstop Jimmy Caillouet drove in the first run for the Stockade with an RBI single but was thrown out trying to advance to second, bringing in Salina’s first run of the game. Kansas City had an answer though and maintained a four-run lead going into the third inning.
McDonald’s second sacrifice fly of the game scored center fielder Omar Garcia, putting the T-Bones up 5-1.
The Stockade continued to try to chip away at Kansas City’s lead in the fifth inning when designated hitter Roche Woodard singled to right field, putting Salina within three runs.
The teams played until the bottom of the fifth until the weather halted the game. The game was called with the T-Bones on top, 5-2.
