Warming trend continues, but winter’s not over yet

The weather will warm up a little today, with a high near 59 and sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.

The warming trend will continue through the middle to late part of the week, the weather service said.

On Friday, an elevated fire danger will be possible, according to the weather service.

By Friday afternoon and evening, there will be a chance of thunderstorms, with the best chance for severe weather south of I-70 and east of I-35, the weather service said.

Winter’s not over yet. The weather will change from a high of 80 on Thursday to a high of about 50 Saturday over a three-day period as a cold front moves in. A wintry mix is possible early Sunday, with subfreezing temperatures possible Sunday and Monday mornings, according to the weather service.

Today’s forecast is a high near 59 with a light south southwest wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the afternoon, and gusting as high as 18 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, the low will be around 45 with a south southwest wind of 9 to 11 mph, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, the high will be near 74 with mostly sunny skies, the weather service said. It will be breezy, with a south southwest wind of 13 to 22 mph, gusting as high as 37 mph.

Wednesday night, the low will be around 53 with a south southwest wind of 11 to 20 mph, gusting as high as 33 mph.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 79, the weather service said. A south wind of 9 to 14 mph will increase to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon, gusting as high as 31 mph.

Thursday night, the low will be around 65, according to the weather service.

Friday, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 73.

Saturday, the high will be near 49 with mostly cloudy skies, the weather service said.
