Voter registration event planned Wednesday in KCK

A voter registration event is planned on Wednesday, July 11, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Eisenhower Room, 5th and Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the program beginning at noon in the Eisenhower Room.

The Rev’d Up event is sponsored by Let America Vote and The Voter Registration Project.

Speakers will include Jason Kander, the president of Let America Vote and a former Missouri secretary of state; and Brian McClendon, creator of KSVotes App and former Google vice president, who will demonstrate a voter registration app he helped create, KSvotes.org.

As a recent court ruling overturned some voter registration requirements in Kansas, this training session is being held to engage new voters and train those who want to register them.

The voter registration deadline is Tuesday, July 17, in Kansas.

The voter app, KSVotes.org, makes it possible to register to vote within five minutes from a cell phone, a tablet or online from a home computer.
