Victim at Turner boat access identified

The victim of a homicide discovered on Saturday at the Turner boat access has been identified, according to the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The victim was Serberthia Bassett, 64, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, the spokesman stated.

At about 6:49 a.m. Saturday, June 12, a patron at the Turner boat access called 911 and stated there was a body lying on the ground near the boat ramp, according to the spokesman. The boat ramp is near 59th Street Lane and the Kansas River.

Kansas City, Kansas, police officers and Wyandotte County Sheriff’s officers arrived and found a female in her mid-60s deceased from an apparent homicide, according to the spokesman. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation.
