The victim of a shooting Wednesday near 47th and State Avenue has died, according to police.
The victim was Sharnia Robinson, 42, a man from Overland Park, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. He died from his injuries on Thursday at a hospital.
Police had been called to the 4700 block of State Avenue about 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday. They discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound in the parking lot of a motel. The man was taken to a hospital.
The suspect, a 38-year-old man, had previously fled and was later taken into custody, according to police. He is being held in the Wyandotte County Jail, awaiting charges.
Police said the suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping, robbery and aggravated intimidation of a victim/witness. Bond was set at $250,000.
