Victim of homicide at 41st and Adams identified

Police today identified the victim of a homicide in the 4100 block of Adams Street on Friday, Sept. 8.

The victim was John Calata, 32, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, according to a police spokesman.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at 6:41 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Rosedale area, and found three males inside a vehicle who had been shot.

A preliminary investigation showed that the men were shot in the 4100 block of Adams Street, and the victims then drove to 41st and Booth Street, where they made contact with police, the spokesman stated.

They were taken to the hospital for medical attention, and Calata died as a result of his injuries, according to police. The two other victims had non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
