The victim of a fatal shooting on Monday night at City Park has been identified, according to a spokesman for the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim of the fatal shooting was Brenda Mejia-Bautista, 21, according to the spokesman.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting at 7:26 p.m. Aug. 8 in City Park, North 32nd and Park Drive in Kansas City, Kansas, the spokesman stated.
A second shooting victim, a 15-year-old male, remains in critical condition at a hospital, according to the spokesman.
The incident is under investigation by the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit.
The Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with additional information on this case to contact the Crime Stoppers TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS. All tips remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward, the spokesman stated.
