The victim of a fatal accident overnight on K-32 near 59th Street has been identified as Errol Stevens, 59, of Independence, Missouri, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.
Stevens was driving a Freightliner semi pulling a Hyundai trailer around midnight Friday, according to the trooper’s report.
He was northbound on 59th Street Lane, making a left turn onto westbound K-32, the trooper’s report stated.
A Volvo semi that was eastbound on K-32 struck the concrete bridge girder that was being pulled by the Freightliner semi, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver of the Volvo semi, a 33-year-old man from Burlington, Iowa, had no apparent injury, according to the trooper’s report. A passenger in the Volvo semi, a 30-year-old man from Mediapolis, Iowa, also had no apparent injured, the trooper’s report stated.
So sorry to hear this. Errol was my step brother. His step mom Lorraine Stevens and I (Sherry Rawson) are so sad.
Thank you for your comment. This is Ricky Stevens. Errols younger brother
I have never understood why trucks (concrete, semi, auto trailer, etc) exit off I-70 at 59th street and then drive west on K32 only to go to truck depots that are off I-435. I does nothing but jam up K-32 with an overload of traffic and tears up the K-32 pavement. Just look at the pavement on K-32 just west of 59th…it is continually full of broken pavements, ruts, potholes, etc. Trucks such as FedEx, Old Dominion, Swift and others should take I-70 to I-435 and then down I-435 to K-32 which is where their terminals are located.
