A victim was injured in a shooting around 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, near 10th and Gilmore, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman.
The victim was taken to a hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, the spokesman stated.
The victim apparently was outside a residence when he was shot, according to the spokesman.
Currently, there are no suspects in custody, police said. Detectives and officers are at the scene working on the case.
While the shooting occurred near Whittier Elementary School, it was not related to students or staff, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools. All students and staff were safe.
