An urban and small stream flood advisory has been issued until 3 a.m. Sunday for Wyandotte County as well as Johnson, Clay and Jackson counties, according to the National Weather Service.
Up to one inch of rain has already fallen, and locations that may experience flooding include Kansas City, Kansas, Bonner Springs and Edwardsville, as well as surrounding areas, according to the weather service.
Those who are driving and come upon flooded roads are asked to turn around and not to try to go through the flooded area. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, according to the weather service.
Also, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 1 a.m. for Wyandotte County and surrounding areas.
