Several locations will collect unused medications for safe disposal on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The collection efforts are part of the Drug Take-Back Day program that began in 2010. Prescription drugs that are turned in will be disposed of safely to prevent accidental or intentional misuse, according to Attorney General Derek Schmidt. The unused prescription drugs can be dangerous to kids, pets and the environment, he said.
Nearly 75 tons of unwanted medications have been collected and destroyed in Kansas since 2010, according to the attorney general.
Medications will be accepted at drop-off sites across the state from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The drop-off sites in Wyandotte County include:
• CVS, 4300 Rainbow Blvd.
• CVS, 4645 Shawnee Drive
• CVS, 3750 State Ave.
• Bonner Springs Price Chopper, 501 Commercial Drive
• CVS, 950 Minnesota Ave.
