More than 250 people gathered to celebrate the results of the Live Heroic United Way of Wyandotte County campaign celebration on Thursday, April 30, at the Vox Theatre, Kansas City, Kan.
The total for the 2014-2015 campaign was $2,111,128, an increase of $118,833 from last year, according to United Way officials.
“We were so excited to announce a projected $118,833 increase from last year’s campaign,” Wendell Maddox, president and CEO of United Way of Wyandotte County, said. “That brings our projected total for our 2014-2015 campaign to $2,111,128. This could not have happened without the amazing support of our workplace campaigns that take place across Wyandotte County each year.”
He said large companies in Wyandotte County that hold workplace campaigns for their employees played a significant role in the success of the United way annual campaign. General Motors Fairfax and UAW Local 31, Procter and Gamble Manufacturing, Board of Public Utilities, UPS, The University of Kansas Hospital, and the Kellogg Co. were all honored for each contributing more than $100,000 to United Way of Wyandotte County.
Also honored were organizations that continue to reach new levels with their workplace campaigns. Award recipients include: Kellogg Co., largest participation increase; The University of Kansas Physicians, largest campaign increase for a small campaign; Nebraska Furniture Mart, largest campaign increase for a large campaign; Procter and Gamble Manufacturing, sustainable growth award.
