UG committees to meet tonight to consider ordinance changes, other issues

Unified Government standing committees are scheduled to meet tonight at City Hall, fifth floor, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kan., to consider ordinance changes and other issues.

The UG Public Works and Safety Committee will meet at 5 p.m. to consider:

• Proposed revisions to the county emergency operations.
• An ordinance amending the traffic code.
• An ordinance amending the Municipal Court code.
• An ordinance amending provisions and offenses concerning alcoholic beverages.
• A resolution adopting a policy on naming UG buildings and parks.
• A presentation on major infrastructure projects for 2018-2021.
• A discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of the public works department.
• An appearance by the president of Argentine Heights t on a petition requesting that Steele Road be paved from 18th Street to 34th Street.

The UG Administration and Human Services Committee will meet at 6 p.m. to consider:
• A grant application to the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City for a breast health patient navigator to help eliminate barriers to cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and care with an emphasis on African-American women.
• A software package that tracks open records requests.
• Presentation on open data governance administrative policy.
• An ordinance about the dissolution of the Alcohol and Drug Committee.
• An update on Community Development programs.
• An appearance by William “Bill” Moore about taxes and other topics.
