UG Committees scheduled to meet Monday night

Two Unified Government committees are scheduled to meet Monday, with a discussion of a Google Fiber community program on the agenda.

The Neighborhood and Community Development Committee meeting will begin at 5 p.m. Monday at City Hall, fifth floor meeting room, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

The committee is scheduled to hear an update on Google Fiber’s Community Connections program. Alan Howze, UG chief knowledge officer, is scheduled to give the report.

Also on the UG NCD Committee agenda are a resolution about the abatement of special assessments levied to finance public improvements for any property acquired by the Wyandotte County Land Bank.

The committee also is scheduled to discuss accessible playground equipment.

After the NCD meeting, the Economic Development and Finance Committee will meet.

Items on the EDF agenda include:

A resolution to set a public hearing on Nov. 16 to consider establishing the Turner Vista Redevelopment TIF (tax-increment financing) district, located on the southwest corner of State Avenue and College Parkway.

Also on the agenda is a revision for the Legends Apartment and Garage West End Redevelopment Community Improvement District formation. The revision would authorize an increase in the project costs above the current cap of $14 million, according to the agenda.

Also on the agenda is a grant application to the National Resource Network’s Director Technical Assistance Grant program to develop local government multi-year financial plans.
