The Unified Government Commission plans to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, in a remove Zoom meeting.
Several planning and zoning issues will be on the agenda.
Also, the UG Commission will meet in a special session at 5 p.m. Aug. 27 for a COVID-19 update and to discuss the Central Avenue Master Plan. It will be a Zoom meeting.
On the 7 p.m. agenda will be rezoning from agriculture and planned general business districts to planned limited business and planned general industrial district for some property at 9700 Leavenworth Road, in the Woodlands project area.
The agenda also includes a purchase agreement for the UG to sell 34 acres of UG property to Scannell Properties for an industrial and commercial development at The Woodlands. Also, 94 acres would be donated to the UG Parks Department as part of the plan.
Also on the agenda is the third amendment to the development agreement with Scavuzzo’s Foodie Park, which changes the start date to April 30.
Also on the agenda is an agreement on the Quindaro Ruins project between Western University Association of the AME Church and the UG, setting forth the intent of the parties to form a trust to own property, seek grants and donations and develop the Quindaro Ruins project.
Also on the agenda are an ordinance allowing for outdoor taverns, as well as an ordinance allowing open streets for recreational purposes.

• Near the Kansas River, State Line Road, north of Kansas Avenue and south of I-670, a resolution setting Oct. 29 as a public hearing to consider the Yards II Apartments Redevelopment plan, which will be an apartment complex. It will be a tax-increment funded project.
• Nomination of Julie Xiong to the Advisory Committee on Human Relations and Disability Issues., submitted by Commissioner Melissa Bynum.
• Nomination of Beverly Easterwood to the Landmarks Commission, submitted by Commissioner Harold Johnson.
• Nomination of Jason Glasrud to the Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District Advisory Board, submitted by Commissioner Brian McKiernan.
