Update: The 5 p.m. UG meeting has been canceled. The 7 p.m. UG meeting is still scheduled.
The Unified Government Commission is scheduled to hear a presentation Thursday on the I-70 and I-670 loop alternative study.
The presentation by the Mid-America Regional Council is scheduled at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 23, in the fifth floor conference room, Suite 515, at City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.
At the 7 p.m. meeting March 23 in the Commission Chambers, lobby level, City Hall, will be three grant applications.
According to the meeting agenda, the UG Commission will be asked to approve grant applications for:
• A lead-based paint hazard control grant, $1.5 million grant with a 10 percent match, and an additional $150,000 requested.
• The Cambridge Connector Study, for a planning grant of $100,000 to study the concept of connecting I-35 and Cambridge with Southwest Boulevard and 31st Street. A $20,000 match, with $10,000 from the UG, is required.
• The Fisher Park and West 39th Street study, for a $168,000 grant to study a 39th Street transit turnaround. The grant also would study Fisher Park and a BPU substation and develop a feasibility analysis for 39th Street between Adams and Minnie. The grant has a $33,600 match.
Also on the 7 p.m. agenda is a presentation of the 2016 AAA Community Traffic Safety Silver Award to the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
In addition, five nominations to boards and commissions will be considered:
• Wendy Baker to the Advisory Commission on Human Relations and Disability Issues, nominated by Edwardsville Mayor John McTaggart.
• Karen Greenwood to the Advisory Commission on Human Relations and Disability Issues, submitted by Commissioner Angela Markley.
• Craig Howell to the Self-Supported Municipal Improvement board, submitted by Commissioner Mike Kane.
• Robert Scherzer to the UG Park Board, submitted by Commissioner Brian McKiernan.
• Martin Zhang to the Self-Supported Municipal Improvement board, submitted by Commissioner McKiernan.
