The Board of Public Utilities’ bond issue, along with other items, is on Thursday’s Unified Government Commission agenda.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Commission Chambers, lobby level, City Hall 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kan.
The BPU voted earlier to approve a bond issue, which is now going before the UG Commission for approval. About $62 million of utility system revenue bonds would finance improvements to the utility system.
About $53 million of utility system refunding revenue bonds would go toward refinancing existing bonds, according to the UG agenda. The $53 million is higher than the $47.6 million previously discussed at the BPU meeting for refinancing the bonds.
A special session of the UG Commission also will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 13 in the fifth floor conference room of City Hall, on a public safety task force update. The UG Commission will meet on the ninth floor afterward in a closed session to discuss labor and litigation.
Other items on the 7 p.m. UG agenda include:
• Two ordinances authorizing the issuance of taxable industrial revenue bonds for the PQ Corp. project, the first for $21 million and the second for $4 million. The commission approved a resolution for the IRBs in December 2013, with a 75 percent tax abatement for the plant expansion at 1700 Kansas Ave.
