Two rounds of rain expected before dry weather returns

Two more rounds of rain are anticipated before a warmer and drier weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The first round comes through the day on Wednesday, with light to moderate rain through the day, mainly along and south of I-70, the weather service said.

The second round of rain comes Thursday night, and should be done by Friday morning. Extreme rain rates are not expected, but with local streams still swollen and soils saturated, it won’t take much rain to cause some flooding and flash flooding, according to the weather service.

Today, the high will be near 72, the weather service said. Showers and storms are possible before 2 p.m.

Tonight, expect a 10 percent chance of showers before 7 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be 58.

Thursday, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and storms, mainly after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 76.

Thursday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and storms, according to the weather service. The low will be around 67.

Friday, skies will be partly sunny with a high near 87, and it will be a windy day, with south southwest winds of 9 to 17 mph and gusts up to 26 mph, the weather service said
