Two crashes were reported on I-70 this morning in Wyandotte County, as drivers faced a storm, heavy rain and hail.
At 7:23 a.m. April 26 at I-70 and 110th Street, a Chevrolet Impala hydroplaned and hit the barrier wall on I-70 westbound, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report. There was a storm at the time.
A 38-year-old woman from Shawnee, Kan., driving the Impala was injured and taken to the hospital, according to the trooper’s report.
Another crash was reported at 8:18 a.m. April 26 at I-70 eastbound near the Turner Diagonal, near 72nd Street in Kansas City, Kan., a KTA trooper’s report stated. Roadways were wet.
When a Ford Edge driven by a 28-year-old Edwardsville, Kan., woman slowed on I-70, a Mazda Protégé driven by a 33-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman struck it from the rear, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Protégé was injured, according to the report. The driver of the Edge was not injured, the report stated.
