Two charged with aggravated battery in connection with wreck at I-35 and 18th Street

Two men were charged with aggravated battery today in connection with a wreck on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 18th Street Expressway and I-35 in Wyandotte County.

Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome A. Gorman this afternoon charged Noe A. Maderos, 21, of Kansas City, Kan., and Steven M. Langley, 21, of Roeland Park, Kan., each with three counts of aggravated battery.

The charges arise from a wreck on Sept. 29 at 18th and I-35 in Wyandotte County. The charges resulted from Maderos and Langley racing their trucks from 18th and I-70, when they ran a red light at 18th and I-35, striking a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old woman, prosecutors stated

The woman’s two children, ages 6 and 21 months, were passengers in the car. All three were extricated by Kansas City, Kan., firefighters and transported to a hospital.

Both Maderos and Langley are in custody in the Wyandotte County Jail. Bond was set at $75,000 each.
