Two young adults were injured when their Kia Sportage flipped over on I-70 on Thursday, Feb. 25.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s crash log, the accident occurred at 6:56 p.m. Thursday on eastbound I-70 near 18th Street.
The Kia was eastbound on I-70, west of 18th Street, in the far right lane when a vehicle merged in front of it, according to the report. The Kia’s driver overcorrected on the shoulder, crossed all lanes of travel and struck the inside wall, the trooper’s report stated.
Then the Kia flipped and ended on its side on the inside shoulder, according to the report.
The driver of the Kia, an 18-year-old woman from Kansas City, Kansas, was taken to the hospital with a possible serious injury, according to the report.
A passenger in the Kia, an 18-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, also was taken to the hospital with a possible serious injury, the report stated.
According to the trooper’s report, the two were not wearing safety restraints.
