A Turner school bus and a van were in an injury-accident around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 5032 Gibbs Road, according to a Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department spokesman.
Forty-four persons were on the school bus, according to the spokesman.
Two patients were taken to a hospital, the spokesman said. Currently, the extent of their injuries is unknown.
Ten patients complained of pain, according to the spokesman.
Turner Superintendent Jason Dandoy stated that a vehicle collided with the rear of the Turner bus, when students in grades kindergarten through five were on their way home from Oak Grove Elementary School.
Kansas City, Kan., police and fire responded and one student was taken to the hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries, Dandoy stated.
Other students were delivered home by a different Turner school bus. Families were notified by the school office.
“We thank emergency responders, students and staff for their calm and caring actions during the incident,” Dandoy stated.
