Trash to be collected on MLK holiday in KCK

Waste Management will be servicing its usual residential trash collection routes on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday because of a winter storm forecast, according to an announcement.

According to a Unified Government news release, because of the potential of a severe winter storm forecast bringing snow and ice to Wyandotte County, Waste Management has decided to collect residential trash and recycling on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 21.

Trash and recycling services now are scheduled to be picked up on the regular scheduled day next week in Kansas City, Kansas, according to the announcement.

Monday pickup is scheduled for Monday; Tuesday, for Tuesday; and continuing as usually scheduled through the rest of the week.

Trash and recycling services still could be disrupted or delayed on any day during a severe weather event, according to the UG news release. The UG will send out updates on social media if there are any changes.

Residents who have any issues or questions concerning trash and recycling services may contact the UG’s 311 Call Center or visit https://mywyco.wycokck.org to submit a trash collection request. Residents also may visit https://www.wycokck.org/Waste.aspx for information.
