Trash pickup delayed because of weather

Residential and commercial trash collection routes in Wyandotte County and surrounding areas have been delayed because of the weather.

An ice storm hit the area on Tuesday.

“With the current poor road conditions due to freezing rain, our primary concern is for the safety of our drivers and the public,” said Paul Howe, senior manager of community relations manager for Waste Management. “As a result, we are pulling collection vehicles off the road at this time.”

All residential customers will experience a one-day delay throughout the remainder of the week, the spokesman stated. Customers with normal collection on Tuesday, will be serviced Wednesday, Feb. 21. There will be one-day trash and recycle service delay throughout the remainder of the week.

“We appreciate the understanding and patience of our customers,” Howe said.
