Trash collection to begin an hour earlier on Friday because of winter weather

Because of a forecast of a winter storm, residential trash collection will begin an hour earlier than usual on Friday, according to an announcement from Waste Management.

There is a forecast of snow and sleet for the Kansas City area on Friday.

“We appreciate our customers understanding Friday ’s earlier collection schedule ahead of tomorrow’s winter storm. Our concern is for the safety of our employees and ensuring we provide reliable service to our customers,” said Justin Vetsch, senior district manager for Waste Management of Kansas Inc., in a news release.

Residential customers are asked to have their containers at the curb at 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15.
