Weather update: The tornado watch for Wyandotte County was canceled around 10 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Earlier: A tornado watch is in effect from 3:40 p.m. Saturday until midnight, according to the National Weather Service.
The tornado watch was issued for Wyandotte County and surrounding counties.
According to the weather service, thunderstorms may move into the region tonight into early Sunday morning as a cold front moves into the region.
A few storms could be severe with damaging winds and large hail, the weather service said. A tornado threat will exist, also.
Locally heavy rainfall is also possible with some areas potentially receiving 1 to 2 inches of rain, the weather service said.
The largest threat for severe weather will be from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., the weather service said.
