A surface low is on track to move through southeast Missouri tonight, allowing a cold front to move through parts of the Kansas City region this afternoon, resulting in cooler and drier air, the weather service said. The Kansas City area is expected to be dry tonight and Friday morning.
While precipitation chances are not great enough to show up in the forecast, there is a slight chance there might be light rain in this area late tonight into Friday morning, however, with some snow mixing in, according to the weather service. No accumulations are anticipated. Any chance for precipitation will move out by Friday afternoon.
On Friday and Saturday, high temperatures will be limited to the low 40s and upper 30s, the weather service said. Saturday should stay dry, and by Saturday night, surface winds will shift to the southwest.
Despite a weak and quick-moving cold front pushing through Sunday morning, temperatures are expected to return to the 40s and 50s on Sunday afternoon, according to the weather service. Temperatures should be above normal next week.
