After a foggy start, today’s weather should be sunny with a high of 79, according to the National Weather Service.
A flood warning has been issued for Tuesday morning through Friday morning for the Missouri River at Parkville, where the gauge is at I-435 between Wyandotte County and Platte County. The river could go into minor flood stage at that point.
On Tuesday evening, thunderstorms may form over Iowa with strong to severe storms moving into this region Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, the weather service said.
Damaging winds will be the main threat of these storms as they travel south, according to the weather service.
The next chance for rain will be Friday morning as a cold front pushes through the area, the weather service said.
According to the weather service, this region will have higher than normal temperatures from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6. Also, this region could have slightly higher precipitation than normal during the same period. Precipitation to the north of this region, in the Missouri River basin, could be up 60 percent above normal from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6.
Tonight, it will be mostly clear with a low of 60 and a calm wind, according to the weather service.
Tuesday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with a high near 81, the weather service said. A calm wind will become south 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
Tuesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 68 and a south wind of 3 to 7 mph, according to the weather service. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
Wednesday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 79 with a calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.
Wednesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., with a low of 58, according to the weather service.
Thursday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 79, the weather service said.
Thursday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with a low of 70, according to the weather service.
