Seasonable weather returns to Wyandotte County this week with highs in the 80s, according to the National Weather Service.
A complex of decaying showers is moving this morning from eastern Nebraska to the southeast, but the rain currently is north of the Kansas City area, near the Nebraska border, according to the weather service. Surface high pressure is building into the region. The decaying storms may give a cirrus shield to the region this morning, but it should thin out by the afternoon.
A cold front is expected to move into the region Wednesday night and Thursday morning, as cold air moves from the Canadian Plains to the Great Lakes area on Wednesday, forcing the cold front into the Midwest.
On Thursday, the weather pattern will become more active with rain chances occurring off and on through the weekend, the weather service said. However, the severe weather threat appears low at this time.
Today in Wyandotte County, expect a high near 88 with mostly sunny skies and a north wind of 3 to 8 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, the low will be around 69 with partly cloudy skies and a north wind of 5 to 7 mph, according to the weather service.
Tuesday, it will be sunny with a high near 90 and a north wind of 5 to 8 mph, the weather service said.
Tuesday night, it will be clear, with a low of 66 and a north wind of 5 to 7 mph, becoming light and variable after midnight, according to the weather service.
Wednesday, expect sunny skies, with a high of 91, the weather service said. A light and variable wind will become south southeast around 5 mph in the morning.
Wednesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of shower and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with a low of 69, according to the weather service. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.
Thursday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 85.
