After a little fog this morning, skies will be mostly sunny today, with a high near 86, forecasters said.
Thunderstorms are expected to form ahead of an upper level system moving out of Wyoming and northern Colorado this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
These storms could enter the Kansas City area around midnight, according to the weather service.
A few of the stronger storms could approach severe extremes with gusty winds to 50 mph and up to dime size hail, according to the weather service.
The weather looks dry, warmer and more humid Friday and Saturday, the weather service said.
However, storms will be possible Saturday night in some areas of the region with another fast-moving upper level system.
