Strong thunderstorms were in Wyandotte County about 9 p.m. Saturday and a flash flood warning was issued.
According to the weather service, the flash flood warning is in effect until 3:15 a.m. Sunday. Flash flooding was expected to begin shortly.
Residents are advised to turn around, not try to go through flooded roadways, and to be especially cautious at night.
A line of storms was moving toward the east at 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph are possible with these storms.
Kansas City, Kansas, and Bonner Springs are in the path of these storms.
The weather service issued a significant weather advisory for Wyandotte County and surrounding areas until 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
