The National Weather Service has issued a thunderstorm warning until 5:15 p.m. for northeastern Wyandotte County, including part of Kansas City, Kansas.
According to the weather service, at 4:14 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Bonner Springs to Spring Hill to near Lone Elm, moving east at 45 mph.
The storm has 70 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, according to the weather service.
Residents are asked to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
This storm has already produced widespread wind damage across the Topeka and Lawrence areas.
Weather radar shows some of this storm moved further south than originally anticipated.
