A 1997 Ford driven by a 53-year-old Shawnee, Kan., man hit a vehicle with its emergency lights on March 11 on I-635 northbound near Douglas Avenue in Kansas City, Kan. The accident happened around 1:10 p.m.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a 2008 Ford was stopped on the left shoulder of I-635 with its emergency light on.
A 2015 Chevy in the left lane slowed as it passed the vehicle on the shoulder, the report stated.
The 1997 Ford, also in the left lane, then failed to yield to the Chevy and struck both the Chevy and the vehicle on the shoulder at the same time, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver of the 1997 Ford was injured and taken to a hospital, according to the report.
The driver of the Chevy, a 33-year-old San Francisco, Calif., woman, was not injured, the report stated. A passenger in the Chevy, a 33-year-old San Francisco woman, also was not injured, the report stated.
The driver of the vehicle on the shoulder, a 57-year-old Mission, Kan., man, was injured and taken to a hospital, the trooper’s report stated. In other records, the driver is listed as an employee of the Kansas Department of Transportation.
