Three injuries were reported in an accident about 2:43 p.m. Monday, May 11, on westbound I-70 near the 57th Street exit.
According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report, it started with a unknown vehicle that lost control on I-70, sliding across the highway.
Three vehicles, including a semi, were all making evasive maneuvers to avoid the sliding vehicle, the report stated.
The semi rear-ended a 2013 Chrysler 200 and pushed it into the rear of a Kia Optima, the report said. The Optima then hit the barrier wall, according to the trooper’s report.
The semi was driven by a 34-year-old Carroll, Iowa, man who was not injured, the report stated.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 46-year-old man from Kansas City, Kan., was injured and taken to a hospital, according to the report. A 26-year-old woman passenger in the Chrysler from Raymore, Mo., also was injured and taken to a hospital.
The driver of the Optima, a 23-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, also was injured and taken to the hospital, the report said.
