Thousands of Wyandotte County residents are without power after a wind storm Wednesday evening.
According to the Board of Public Utilities’ outage map, there were 3,540 meters out as of 10:03 p.m. Wednesday.
At 8:38 p.m., there were 3,639 reported out.
The BPU board was at its regular meeting when the National Weather Service declared a thunderstorm warning and advised residents to go to a shelter on the interior floor.
The board went into a recess about 6:15 p.m. and waited until 6:32 p.m. Wednesday to come back into session and resume its meeting.
