Muddy Waters Jr., the oldest son of Muddy Waters, will headline the Thanksgiving Breakfast Dance Nov. 23 at the Kansas National Guard Armory, 18th and Ridge, Kansas City, Kansas.
Waters Jr., also known as Mud Morganfield, will perform his father’s greatest hits at the event.
Other highlights will include the son of Johnnie Taylor, T.J. Hooker-Taylor, performing his dad’s greatest hits.
In addition, guitarist Memphis Mike, a local blues artist, will perform.
Levee Town, a blues and rockabilly group, is returning to the event after about 10 years.
Started in 1959 by Willie Cyrus, the Thanksgiving Breakfast Dance has featured such stars as Little Milton, Johnnie Taylor, Bobby Blue Bland, Tyrone Davis, Sir Charles, Denise LaSalle, Floyd Taylor, ZZ Hill, and Willie Clayton.
As many as 1,000 guests have attended the Thanksgiving Breakfast Dance, where the doors open at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day with four hours of blues and jazz entertainment planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Breakfast, music and dance are included in the event.
Advance tickets are $45 each and reserved tickets are $55. A reserved table of eight is $400. Tickets at the door are $50.
