The Kansas City T-Bones have signed veteran Nate Tenbrink to a contract for the 2015 season.
Tenbrink, 28 (12-21-86), is a 6-foot-2 and 210-pound utility player from Olathe, Kan.
Tenbrink has spent the majority of the past two seasons with Tacoma, the Seattle Mariners’ triple-A club.
During that time, in 147 games, Tenbrink batted .263 with 133 hits, 17 home runs and 72 RBIs. Seattle selected Tenbrink in the seventh round of the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Kansas State University.
“Nate is a power left-handed bat who will hit in the middle of our lineup,” said T-Bones manager John Massarelli.
In seven professional seasons, Tenbrink, who’s played every defensive position except catcher and pitcher, is a .272 hitter with 532 hits, 103 doubles, 31 triples, 61 home runs, 279 RBIs, 92 stolen bases and 343 runs scored.
Tenbrink is a product of Olathe Northwest High School. He is the fourth player from the Greater Kansas City area signed by the T-Bones for next season, joining Adam Bailey from Overland Park, Kan., Jake Blackwood from Kansas City, Mo., and Kyle Gehrs from Grain Valley, Mo.
The T-Bones open the 2015 regular season at home on May 22 against Lincoln.
