Temperatures will drop below freezing tonight, weather service says

Light snow will be possible this evening in the area, as temperatures drop below freezing, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow also will be possible this morning, north of the Kansas City area.

It may be a good time to cover outdoor plants, as temperatures tonight will dip to a low of 23.

There is a 20 percent chance of rain after 11 a.m. today, mixing with snow after 5 p.m., the weather service said. Today’s high will be 43, and a northwest wind of 10 to 17 mph may gust as high as 26 mph.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of snow showers before 9 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 23. A northwest wind of 9 to 15 mph may gust as high as 22 mph.

Saturday, it will be sunny with a high of 42, according to the weather service. A northwest wind of 6 to 10 mph will become southwest in the afternoon. Winds may gust as high as 18 mph.

Saturday night, expect a low of 29 with a south wind of 3 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Sunday, there is a 30 percent chance of snow showers before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow showers between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., followed by a chance of rain after 11 a.m., according to the weather service. The high will be near 48, and a south wind of 7 to 11 mph is predicted.

Sunday night, there is a 20 percent chance of rain and snow before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of rain between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., followed by a slight chance of snow showers after 2 a.m., the weather service said. The low will be around 30.

Monday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers after noon, according to the weather service. The high will be near 55.

Monday night, expect a 30 percent chance of showers before midnight, with a low of 44, the weather service said.

Tuesday, the high will be near 64 with partly sunny skies, according to the weather service.
