Cool temperatures this morning will give way to a high in the lower 40s this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
The temperature was 27 degrees at 9 a.m., about 20 degrees cooler than Sunday morning. A high pressure system is moving into the region today, the forecast stated.
The forecast contains a slight chance of rain and slushy snow on Wednesday and Wednesday night, the weather service said. Snow amounts are forecast to be slight in Wyandotte County and higher in an area to the south of Kansas City.
A Canadian high will move into the area on Thursday, bringing colder weather. The lows on Thursday and Friday morning will be in the single digits and teens, with wind chill values in the single digits to single digits below zero, according to the weather service. Temperatures will rebound into the 40s on the weekend.
Today, there will be increasing clouds, with a high near 41 and a calm wind becoming north around 5 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, it will be cloudy during the early evening, then gradually clearing, with a low of 29, according to the weather service. A calm wind will become northwest around 6 mph after midnight.
Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 40 and a north wind of 5 to 9 mph becoming light in the afternoon, the weather service said.
Tuesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of snow after midnight, with a low of 30 and a calm wind, according to the weather service.
Wednesday, there is a 40 percent chance of snow before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., then a chance of rain after 11 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 40 with a light and variable wind. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of precipitation is forecast.
Wednesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain and snow before 10 p.m., then a chance of snow between 10 p.m. and midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 13. Less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation is forecast.
