Temperatures in 90s today, with slight chance of rain

Temperatures may climb as high as 90 today, with a heat index of 97, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a slight, 30 percent, chance of isolated thunderstorms today between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the weather service. This morning, a storm system passed to the north of the Kansas City area.

A 20 percent chance of showers and storms continues tonight, the weather service said.

Hail and damaging winds are the primary threat with some of the strongest storms. Torrential rain will be possible with these systems, according to the weather service.

The widespread threat of storms will spread across the region Tuesday with an on-again-off-again chance of storms through Friday, the weather service predicted.

The weather service said there will be a 50 percent chance of precipitation on Tuesday. The high Tuesday will be near 85.

The chance of rain is 60 percent Tuesday night, when the low will be around 68, the weather service said.

Wednesday, there will be another chance of showers and storms, this time 40 percent, with a high of 82, according to the weather service. Wednesday night’s chance of rain will be 30 percent.
