Teens fleeing from police crash near 7th and I-70; injuries reported

Teenagers fleeing from police about 10:23 p.m. Saturday, April 9, crashed near 7th and I-70 in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 17-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, girl, with six occupants in the vehicle, was northbound on 7th Street, fleeing from law enforcement, according to the trooper’s report. The crash location was reported as 212 S. Tremont St.

A 2014 Dodge Avenger driven by a 53-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman also was northbound on 7th Street, the trooper’s report stated.

The Jeep struck the rear of the Dodge, the Dodge lost control, running off the road to the right and striking a concrete wall, according to the trooper’s report.

The 53-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman in the Dodge had a possible serious injury and was taken to a hospital, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the Jeep was not injured, according to the report.

One of the six teens in the vehicle, a 16-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, male, was taken to the hospital with a possible minor injury, according to the trooper’s report.

The other occupants of the Jeep, all teens from Kansas City, Kansas, did not report any injuries, the trooper’s report stated. The other occupants were a 16-year-old male; a 17-year-old female; a 17-year-old male; and a 17-year-old female.
